Carrot Patch Sign

With spring officially begun, we are full into the beginning of garden season! How better to celebrate, than with a cute Carrot Patch sign!

Farmhouse decor for your homestead, farm or garden loving spring home. Gift to gardeners or for Easter!

This is the part of the year that I still like gardening. Ask me again come July or August when it’s too hot to be outside and the weeds and pests have taken over and my opinion is often different. But for now… for now I’m all about the planning and the prepping and the seed starting. Yes, and even the decorating!

So… I designed this cute sign specifically for my sister who is loving all things carrots these days! I wanted to have something for her when she arrived for her visit this week, but I couldn’t help but print myself one and frame it up! It’s sitting on my kitchen counter waiting for me to figure out a good place for it. 🙂 I couldn’t stop there, though! I’ve also added it to my Etsy shop so you can have a copy too!

My sign reads, “Welcome to our Carrot Patch”, but my sister lives alone, so that isn’t going to work for her. Hers says ,”Welcome to my Carrot Patch.”

You can also choose to print the pdf of the 8.5×11 size to put in the front cover of your homestead, household, or school notebook!

Monthly Egg Log for Your Chickens

Monthly Egg Counting Log with Cute Artwork for Chicken Keepers | mamasbrush

Keep records in style with these new forms!

This project has been a long time coming, and a lot of original artwork was created to make these extra special! I’ve been wanting to create these Egg Counting Sheets for a few years (ever since I made one for for the month of April a few years back), and the drawing tablet I got for my birthday last fall was just the push I needed! I’ve been working on them for several months and I’m super excited to have them done and ready for your farm or homestead needs!

Click here to find them in my Etsy shop!

UPDATE 2023: You can also find these egg counting sheets in my Whole Coop Chicken Mega Bundle with my other chicken products. Click here to find that.

Keep records in style with these new forms!

Each page has chicken themed artwork that matches the season. You may recognize the chickens from a fabric design I shared lately (available for sale here.) The chickens from that fabric were originally from these egg counting sheets.

You can keep track of how many eggs you collect each day, any expenses from the month and your gross and net sales (if you sell your eggs.) There is also a section for writing any notes about your chickens or things you need to do or buy.

Dandelions at Play – fabric design

Dandelions at Play Fabric Design | mamasbrush #dandelions #dandelionillustration #childrenplaying #blowingdandelions #younglove #nurserywallpaper #childrensroom

This week’s theme at Spoonflower was Weeds. I thought and thought about how I could uniquely represent that theme, but I kept coming back to dandelions. Well, I thought, maybe I can at least use a different angle on them.

Different or not, I ended up creating this sweet print of children with dandelions. She is blowing the fuzz off a spent bloom and he is offering her a fresh one.

I don’t usually dabble in people, so this was a challenge for me. I changed my design half a dozen times over a weeks time. Then, the night before, my husband made some suggestions that turned my design on its head once more. (My designs are always better for his input!)

Tuesday morning found me working on it still. I finished it with only a couple hours to spare. As it turns out, there was a flaw in the copy I submitted. The flower he is holding in this pic was on the wrong side of his hand (Stem showing). Oops! I guess I’ll never know whether it would have been more popular without that mistake. Oh well. I’ve fixed it up in time to share it with you. Dandelions at play! What do you think?

Be Transformed Sign for Spring/Easter Decorating

Be Transformed Sign for Spring/Easter Decorating | mamasbrush #chicks #Easterdecor #springdecor #Romans122 #Bibleverse #springsign #springtieredtray

A couple years ago I painted this in my art journal.

A few weeks ago I brought that painting into Illustrator and created a wall hanging for the International Women’s Day Spoonflower Design Challenge.

This weekend I added it to my Etsy shop as a digital download.

I love this verse in the Bible. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 This art print is a cute way to be reminded throughout the day that we are not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by renewing our minds with God’s Word.

I’ve offering this print at 33% off for my blog readers for the next week. Enter coupon code TRANSFORMED33.

Please pin the image below if you like my latest product! Also, if you have an Etsy account, would you please consider clicking to favorite my shop? Your support is always appreciated!

Empty Tomb Print in a Farmhouse Style

“Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed!”
~John 20:29~

This is a digitized watercolor print I took out of my art journal. I shared it here a few years ago. I just love this verse… how Jesus was talking about me!

It is similar to the print I shared in my last post, but this one has a more farmhouse feel in my opinion… less whimsy. My husband definitely likes this one better than the other (I love both!)

Let me know in the comments… which one is your favorite? This one or the one with the bunny?

This digital download is also available in my Etsy store as an 8×10 and 5×7 print (you get both sizes for one price) for you to download and print yourself. I’m offering this at 33% off for the next 7 days exclusively for my blog readers (coupon code EMPTYTOMB33). Head over there to get your discounted print today.

He is Risen-Empty Tomb Print for Easter

I told you yesterday that I opened my own Etsy shop, so some of you may have seen these in that post, but I want to share a little more about them. You may have seen my original watercolor version from a few years ago, but I had gifted that painting to a dear friend, so I I wanted to recreate it this year.

I love to find ways to incorporate the true celebration of Easter into our spring decor. This little bunny print, peeking into the empty tomb just makes me smile! 🙂 I love the touch of whimsy it can add to a child’s space, family room, or in my case, the kitchen. (I do plan to put this in my children’s bedroom, but the lighting in there is terrible, so I took the pics here.)

You can find these digital download in 8×10 and 5×7 sizes in my Etsy shop here. You can print it and display it in no time.

Flower Pot Note Pad

Flower Pot Note Pad | mamasbrush #notepad #flowerpot illustration #wateringcan #springnotepad #gardeningnotepad #Luke1:37

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I would be using my flower pots design for the upcoming women’s retreat. (That retreat is this weekend, by the way and the main reason I haven’t posted this week.) At the time, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, and in reality, I expected to do more, but other projects took over.

In the end, I decided to make this Flower Pot Note Pad with them. It wasn’t practical to make a note pad for each of the 50-something ladies who are planning to join us, but I could include one in each of the gift baskets (pots, really) I’m putting together for the door prize. So that’s what I did.

I basically followed these direction for making the notepad, though, if I’d done it exactly this way (I did last time), it would have worked even better. One difference… I couldn’t find my padding compound. We looked everywhere I can think of. Nothing. I read somewhere that Modge Podge works too, so I tried it. (We always have lots of that around.) And it worked!

Hot Air Balloon Theme for Gender Neutral Baby Shower, Birthday Party or Event

Hot Air Balloon Theme Baby Shower | Party or Event | mamasbrush

A gender neutral baby shower, birthday party, or event just lends itself to an adventuresome and colorful hot air balloon theme. I started with my own design for gender neutral nursery wallpaper, and this is exactly what we did for an expecting mama in our church a couple weeks ago.

Food Table Decor | Hot Air Balloon Theme Baby Shower | Party or Event | mamasbrush

I know this post has been a long time coming. Not only did I promise it was coming, but I also promised detailed prep posts. Well, that didn’t happen. Between kid sickness and normal spring busy-ness, I should have been more realistic. I was just glad to pull off the party at all. 🙂

Cake, Cloud Cookies, and Rainbow Fruit | Hot Air Balloon Theme Baby Shower | Party or Event | mamasbrush

One of the friends of the mama to be has a sister who makes cakes. When she volunteered her, my first thought was that I wanted to do the cake. Then I realized that if she made the cake, I wouldn’t have to and time was at a premium. I accepted and I’m so glad I did. Isn’t it beautiful. I tried to get a website for you all, but she only makes them for family and friends. If that changes some day, I’ll try to get you a link! The cupcakes are gluten free and that basket was completely chocolate! Yummm!

The dish next to the cake is my take on meringue clouds. (Find the tutorial here.)

Centerpieces | Hot Air Balloon Theme Baby Shower | Party or Event | mamasbrush

I adapted this tutorial and borrowed heavily from several other pics on my Hot Air Balloon Party Board to create these cute centerpieces. I had my 7 year old and one of her friends spread the left over triangles around the tables for extra color.

I created these tags using my own artwork. Find my inspiration for them here.

Gift Table Under the Clouds | Hot Air Balloon Theme Baby Shower | Party or Event | mamasbrush

Pops of color around the room came in the form of these pendent banners and adorable paper hot air balloons. For the balloons I used these instructions from Karen Kavett and this template. At the end of the party, I cut them down and sent them home with each of the ladies who came. I suggested that they put them somewhere they would see them and remember to pray for the family and new baby. They also liked the idea to hand them from the Christmas tree to remember the event for years to come.

The whole event really turned out beautifully. My sweet husband helped me to blow up and hang all these balloon clouds. I used this tutorial to string them together and it was pretty easy, but this one with glue would have been even easier.

What was your favorite part of this event? Please let me know in the comments! And as always, please…

Girl Jumping in a Puddle in my Art Journal

Another installment of my April art journal page.

Illustrating children - Jumping in a Puddle

A few weeks back I told a bloggy friend I follow that I’d be participating in this 100 day project and that I’d be working on illustrating people. Well, I did it a few times and even saw some improvement, but this isn’t a good time of year for me to be promising to do anything everyday. 🙂 I can barely paint at all.

However, while I’m also trying to do a some of the April hand lettering prompts over at Awesome Alice, I decided that this “puddle” prompt should involve at least some of a person. 🙂 So this is my “Little Girl Jumping in a Puddle.”

I love that I can get the playfulness of the moment without a face. 🙂

Empty Tomb Watercolor Card for Easter – Hand Lettered Matthew 28:6

Update March 2022: An updated version of this artwork is available on my Etsy Shop for instant download.

Empty Tomb Watercolor Card for Easter - Hand Lettered Matthew 28:6

Last year I shared an empty tomb illustration from my art journal, but I was wanting to do something like it again. This time, I selected Matthew 28:6, “He is not here, for he is risen!”

Empty Tomb Watercolor Card for Easter - Hand Lettered Matthew 28:6

I wanted to add some color this time, so you’ve got grass and a flower. When the bunny idea hopped (see what I did there?) into my head, I just couldn’t help myself. I love that it looks like he’s bending his head over to see inside. It’s exactly what I envisioned. That doesn’t happen very often. 🙂
