Pockets – A Repeating Pattern

Pockets - A Repeating Pattern | mamasbrush #fabricdesign #pockets #Spoonflower #Spoonflowerdesignchallenge

This past week I entered another Spoonflower Design Challenge. The theme was “Pockets”. I had a lot of fun designing, first, the actual pockets, then the various components.

I placed 253rd out of 655, which puts me in the top half, so I’m pleased with that. And it took over the second place spot in my own personal designs.

Hop over to see it on Spoonflower or even on “real” products. 🙂

Floral Sketches on Periwinkle

This past week I participated, again, in the Spoonflower Design Challenge. I love these challenges because they put my art in front of a lot of people, push me to try new things artistically, and they force me to learn more about Adobe Illustrator.

This design is part of a larger project I’ve been working on, my first collection. (It is mostly done and I hope to share it in the near future.)

In the mean time, I changed the color palette to match the theme for this past week’s challenge: Very Peri.

You can find my design on Spoonflower here. And see it on products here.

Do you like my design? Please take a moment to pin this image and/or share it on social media! (Thanks!)

Summer Time Design for Fabric and Gift Wrap

Summer Time Fabric and Gift Wrap | BBQ Grill Outdoor Picnic Fun | mamasbrush

This week the theme at Spoonflower is Small Scale Summer . I came up with this basic design last year, but never took it beyond the sketch. When I saw the theme for this week, I immediately wanted to bring it back out. I transferred it to watercolor paper and got painting.

This would be great on fabric for a summer tote or purse or adorable on gift wrap for any of your summer parties! You can vote for your favorite design through May 7, 2019here.

I have a free printable of the original design coming up for you soon. Click follow in the sidebar so you won’t miss it! 🙂

Tulip Showers Design for Fabric, Wallpaper, and Gift Wrap

Tulip Showers Fabric Design from mamasbrush

One of the reasons I enjoy participating in the Spoonflower Design Challenges, is that it pushes me to try something new. Something I might not have thought to do on my own. They give me a theme for each week. Sometimes I decide I don’t like the theme or don’t have time to participate, but when I can (and want to), I enjoy rising to the challenge.

Tulip Showers Fabric Design from mamasbrush

This week the theme is April Showers. I was already working on this concept for an up and coming bridal shower I’m working on, so it was easy to turn it into a repeating pattern for fabric, wall paper and gift wrap. It was inspired by this pin. I saw those tulips in the umbrella and I really wanted to paint them!

From there, I imagined the look of tulips “showering” down from above and the concept was born.

Voting for this design is from Thursday, April 11 – Tuesday, April 16.

Stay tuned for a bridal shower invitation along the same theme, coming up!

Cacti in Mugs – Repeating Pattern

Cacti in Mugs - mamasbrush

I’ve created another repeating pattern for Spoonflower’s Design Challenge. The main reason I enjoy participating in these is because they push me to create something I wouldn’t otherwise create. This week’s theme is Desert Modernism, and while I’m not sure I’d call this modern, it is my take on their theme. I wouldn’t have chosen to paint cactus just for me and I certainly wouldn’t have thought to put them in mugs if I wasn’t painting them at all.

In the end, I’m a super pleased with how they’ve turned out. Voting is over here if you are into that. 🙂 (Voting now closed. I didn’t win… but it’s okay, I’m just in it to grow.)

What do you think?

Repeating Star Pattern with Limited Color Palette

Limited Color Palette Stars - mamasbrush

We interrupt this Valentine’s streak, to bring you stars.

Yes, I know, I’m kinda on a roll with all the Valentine’s posts, and don’t worry (or I’m sorry, depending on who you are), there will be more. In the mean time, I wanted to share this repeating pattern I’ve entered in the Spoonflower Limited Palette Design Challenge.

That’s it… short and sweet today. Voting closes Tuesday, February 5th, if you’re into that kind of thing, or let me know what you think in the comments.

Blessings!
