Family Christmas Lights Sign – Personalized

Family Christmas Lights Sign - Personalized | mamasbrush

Matthew 5:16 inspired quote: "Shining our lights together."

Christian Christmas, Jesus centered, Jesus focused, printable, digital download, custom Christmas sign, Christmas sign, Christmas wall art, Christmas mantle art

This is one of my favorite original Christmas signs. I love to doodle Christmas lights with the cute spirals on the lights. I’ve used them to make cards and labels year after year. They take a simple plain card or slip of paper and really dress them up in a festive way. I’ve used markers and watercolor to make the lights (you just have to wait until the watercolor dries if you go that route!) Anything would work really!

The phrase under family has a double meaning for me. Obviously we are loving to shine our Christmas lights at Christmas time, but it is also a reference to Matthew 5:16 in the Bible:

“In the same way, let your light shine before others,
so that they may see your good works and give glory to your
Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16

Jesus is talking here about the inner light Christians have in this world of darkness. We are to live our lives so that people can see Jesus (the true Light) in us.

I love to make Christmas cards with these lights and the words “Let your lights shine!” Hopefully they will be in my shop this fall (if I don’t get to it this month.) Let me know if those are something you would be interested in and I’ll move them up the priority list. πŸ™‚

Anyway, I made these signs on wood a couple years ago and finally posted about it this past winter.

Empty Tomb Print in a Farmhouse Style

“Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed!”
~John 20:29~

This is a digitized watercolor print I took out of my art journal. I shared it here a few years ago. I just love this verse… how Jesus was talking about me!

It is similar to the print I shared in my last post, but this one has a more farmhouse feel in my opinion… less whimsy. My husband definitely likes this one better than the other (I love both!)

Let me know in the comments… which one is your favorite? This one or the one with the bunny?

This digital download is also available in my Etsy store as an 8×10 and 5×7 print (you get both sizes for one price) for you to download and print yourself. I’m offering this at 33% off for the next 7 days exclusively for my blog readers (coupon code EMPTYTOMB33). Head over there to get your discounted print today.

He is Risen-Empty Tomb Print for Easter

I told you yesterday that I opened my own Etsy shop, so some of you may have seen these in that post, but I want to share a little more about them. You may have seen my original watercolor version from a few years ago, but I had gifted that painting to a dear friend, so I I wanted to recreate it this year.

I love to find ways to incorporate the true celebration of Easter into our spring decor. This little bunny print, peeking into the empty tomb just makes me smile! πŸ™‚ I love the touch of whimsy it can add to a child’s space, family room, or in my case, the kitchen. (I do plan to put this in my children’s bedroom, but the lighting in there is terrible, so I took the pics here.)

You can find these digital download in 8×10 and 5×7 sizes in my Etsy shop here. You can print it and display it in no time.

Snowman Valentine

I love giving Valentine’s to my children each year. There are 6 of them. I don’t always, and to tell you the truth, it’s only in the last few years I’ve tried, but since I started painting and illustrating in 2016, I’ve enjoyed making things for them. It makes them smile. πŸ™‚

This one, though, was something I did for me. I was inspired by some Christmas decor blocks the boys made me a number of years ago. I pictured it quite differently in my head, but it often works that way, doesn’t it? I painted this in my art journal with no other plans for it.

Valentine art journal entry with I snow love you hand lettered with hearts and watercolor | mamasbrush designs

This is how it turned out.

This past week I thought of it again and wondered if I could digitize it in time for Valentine’s Day this year. Sunday, I set aside another project I am work on right now to play with it and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. And not only is it done in time for me to share it with my children, but it’s in plenty of time to share it with all of you!

Update: I have updated this for 2023 and have it available in my Etsy shop. It’s available as a JPG and as a PNG with transparent background so you can use them as you desire. Print some to give for gifts or to frame for yourself. I also included some small cards to fill the empty space on the page. I love these for inserting in another card, using as a tag on a gift, or even a bookmark.

Oh, and please let me know how you plan to use them! It will make me smile to know that they are a blessing to you!

Apples – Pick Your Own Fall Sign | Hand Lettered and Painted Free Printable

I love love love these printable signs I found over at Clean and Scentsible! I pinned my favorites here. (And that towel… you’ll have to go look. It’s too cute!)

Pick Your Own Fall Apples | Free Printable with hand lettered Colossians 3:23

I tend to steer toward the farmhouse style decor… at least on Pinterest, and these cute signs planted a seed in me to make my own version of them. I just couldn’t let many days go by before I just had to try it with an apple theme. I generally decorate with apples in September. It’s not quite fall, but I’m itching for it to be… apples seem to be a happy medium before my leaves and pumpkins come out at the end of the month.

Pick Your Own Fall Apples | Free Printable with hand lettered Colossians 3:23

I started by sketching this one out. It’s not a “no-sketch” by any means. There were too many elements to get just right. I suppose if you wanted to “no-sketch” it, you could always scan each element in individually and put it together in Photoshop… but I didn’t do that this time. πŸ™‚

I love the look of all the farmhouse signs I see, but when it comes time to buy or make one for myself, I can’t make myself do it. Something always seems to be missing. First of all, I wanted to add a verse to it somehow, but I also wanted to make it more personal. I felt like putting “family farm” at the top fit us better since that’s what we pretend to be. Then I loved how “pick your own” fit the attitude of encouraging the children to help out and take initiative.

Pick Your Own Fall Apples | Free Printable with hand lettered Colossians 3:23

I tried a new watercolor paper this time around. Hot pressed. It’s much smoother and [hopefully] easier to scan and clean up in Photoshop for you all. Shayda recently did a video that talks about the differences in watercolor paper, so I was ready for it to be different. It definitely was different, and it will take some practice, but I think it worked out nicely. Nothing you should be afraid to try for sure. The main reason I decided to try it is that Eileen at My Creative Resolution mentioned in a post (no idea which one… sorry!) that the texture of watercolor paper is hard on artist pens. It was at that moment I understood why my pens never seem to last long! πŸ™‚ An ah-ha moment to be sure! The smooth finish of the hot pressed paper should help them to last longer. And it does scan much nicer!

I know there are already so many fall printables out there, but I don’t often see these seasonal printables with Bible verses on them, so I want to share them with you in the off chance that any of you are still in the market for a cute apple themed fall printable or have been holding out for one with a verse. Patriotic Summer Time Free Printable

Summer Time BBQs. Grilling for everyday or those large family gatherings. It’s what summer is made for and today I have a fun patriotic free printable for you!

Patriotic Summer Time Free Printable from mamasbrush | grilling, kababs, lemonade, watermelon and other summer time goods!

I started this project last year for a design challenge, but I ran out of time and, when the deadline passed, I tucked the sketch away in a file of unfinished projects. When the Spoonflower Summer Design Contest came up a few weeks ago, I decided to pull it out and finish it. Kababs on the grill with watermelon and lemonade are what summers are made of! Am I right? (Leave a comment with your favorite summer grilling fare!)

Patriotic Summer Time Free Printable from mamasbrush | grilling, kababs, lemonade, watermelon and other summer time goods!

I began by tracing the original sketch and transferring it to watercolor paper. Then I spent a couple nights playing with the color and finished it with the black pen.

When it was time to design the repeating pattern for the fabric design, I scanned it and took it into Photoshop where I cleaned up the background and moved things around a bit to make it work as a repeat.

But this one… this one is the way I made it for you. Download it, print it off and put it in a frame. Hang it on your wall or set it on the counter and smile when you think of the soon coming life you have outdoors! πŸ™‚

Save the Date Coffee Cups

Last year I shared this cute prototype for a save the date card we used for our cafe themed women’s retreat. Well, I just wanted to let you know that I have updated that post with all the templates I created and used to make it. I also included some tips to make your project even easier!

These would be great for save the date or invitations for cafe themed parties, retreats or weddings. You could also use this for thank you notes or even just a note of encouragement if you change the tag.

Valentine Tags in Watercolor

Valentine Tags

I posted about these tags last year, so there isn’t much to say. I covered the fact that I do indeed know how to spell “delivery”, but something about the phrase “special deLOVery” just makes me smile.

These were a handful of tags I made my first Valentine’s day painting. Just 6 months in. I believe they are inspired by the beautiful works over at Elvie Studio.

I picture them tied to a gift. Maybe a box of chocolate, or bacon roses, or jerkie. Maybe in a care package for a daughter in college, or tucked in a bunch of flowers.

Where would you use them? Here is a printable sheet of them all for you to use. I hope you like them. (Click the link below the image.)

Snowman Valentines

With February upon us at last, I’d like to share some of my fun Valentine-y goodness. Last year I shared these little cuties with you. I still just love them!

That cute cuddling couple! Something about cold, icy, snow people cuddling makes me smile still.

And that snow-mama with her little snow-baby. Melts my heart! (pun intended!)

I hope you like them as much as I do… and (Updated 12/2023), just in case you do, I’m making them available in my shop! You can find the “snow mama” card and a new snow mama design now.

And, surprise!!! They are now customizable with Canva! Click through to find out how that works, but you can change the text to suit you and your family!

I’m hoping to have the “Snow Couple” cards done before the end of the year! I’ll update this post when they are done, but if you want to keep an eye out, click over to my shop and hit the “follow shop” button at the top. You’ll see in your “updates” section when they are listed!

If you aren’t ready for it now, pin it for later… and while you are at it, follow me on Pinterest to find all sorts of great inspiration!

Good-bye 2018 ~ A New Year’s Sermon Revisited

Update: Find the 2023 version with free printable here.

I’ve posted before about the best New Year’s sermon I’ve ever heard. It was so great, in fact, that a year after I heard it, I was sharing it with you. And now, two years later, I’m back, reflecting on it again.

Only this year I’ve updated it!

Not only is it current, but I made those words at the bottom easier to read (I love incorporating Photoshop into my art process!)

Oh, those words. What a balm to my soul! “Don’t hold on to last year’s guilt and shame. Those sins were nailed to the cross!” Thank you Pastor Jerry for that amazing reminder! And it’s because of that amazing truth that we can look forward with hope and excitement to 2019!

But there’s more!

In celebration of New Year’s and my one year blogiversary on January 2nd, I have a gift for you! I’ve created an 8×10 and a 5×7 version for you to print for yourself!

Now, a warning… I’ve spent the whole evening trying to figure out how to make this work, so if it’s not working… sorry! (And please let me know so I can help.) Until today, I didn’t even know if I could do this from a wordpress.com site. So we’ll see if it works for you as well as it did for me.

Instructions:
1. Click one of the links below
2. Right click the image and select “save image as” from the drop down menu.
3. Save it where you can find it.

Once you’ve done all that, you should be able to print it. Just make sure to select the proper size when printing . πŸ™‚
